Ward D is NTL’s third film, and a departure from our previous, in both style and substance.
Ward D centers around a state run psychiatric hospital, and the lives of both the residents and the staff that cares for them. It is a reserved, dark look at the places no one wishes to believe exist.
The film was conceived first by looking at was necessary to drive the narrative, and with that, what could be removed. No establishing shots, no useless cuts, no bloated shot lists. The character, and the actor that plays them, are front, top, and all else is secondary.
Ward D finished principle shooting in September 2023 in Orange County, NY. We are now into editing and will have this exciting new film ready for the coming year.
